The Hotel Valrose restaurant in Rougemont is a unique destination seeped in history. Full of warmth, it’s managed by a couple whose experience and passion are the heart and soul of the restaurant and hotel. The friendly space is appreciated both by locals and curious passers-by, offering both traditional and comforting dishes.

The hotel restaurant Valrose is a historic establishment founded in 1904. It was one of the first hotels in the Pays-d’Enhaut region to be built at the same time as the Montreux-Bernese Oberland (MOB) railway line, which brought tourism to this then very isolated hinterland.

As a historical back blick, Gstaad and Saanen was founded in 1906, and Gstaad Palace in December 1913

The Valrose, as the locals call it, is considered by the Rodzemounais, the inhabitants of Rougemont, as an institution, a real meeting place in the heart of the village. Many of them come here daily to have their morning coffee, have lunch on the terrace in summer, or enjoy an aperitif after a day on the ski slopes.

At our first meeting with Benoit Carcenat, we were very warmly welcomed, friendliness emulating from him. When we made a short film about him as the Chief of the gastronomy restaurant at Valrose, we felt his passion and creativity in the moment, witnessing him in action as he finished up a plate before serving it. Which was second to none when it came to both the taste and flavour we experienced when sampling this gastronomic dish, something of which we highly recommend.

As Mrs Sabine Carcenat told us when visiting the hotel: we want to keep the traditional spirit as an authentic and warm place, always open and attentive to its customers. We are we open to new ideas, we listen to client’s questions, taking on board any suggestions they may have, or to grant a request.

Another part of what makes Valrose the delight it is to visit is how the full Valrose team unites around the establishment’s unifying values: mutual assistance, attention to detail, and a spirit of initiative.

While experiencing being a guest at the hotel, we observed how each staff member brings their personality and life experience into their job role. This is how each team members makes Valrose both unique and unforgettable.
